View of the Anacostia River Looking East
Full description
View of the Anacostia River looking East, on the left the Washington Navy Yards and on the right the SouthEast Washington Anacostia. While the Potomac River is better known by the greater public, partly due to its proximity to the National Mall, the Anacostia River is better known by locals and long-time District residents. Forgotten by so many, its waterways and bedrock have, for thousands of years, been shaped by colossal geological forces. After the great glaciation, the last continental ice sheet retreated and revealed, amongst others, the great river valley of the Anacostia watershed.
