The Symbolism of Blood in Christian Theology

Blood, as a spiritual symbol, is deeply connected with the story of salvation in Christianity. The New Testament speaks of Christ’s blood as being “shed for many for the forgiveness of sins” (Matthew 26:28). Yet, Christian theology warns against confusing the spiritual power of Christ’s blood its symbolism of life given for others-with any notion of biological exclusivity or physical blood types[3][5][15]. All people, regardless of blood type or background, are invited to receive the spiritual benefit of Christ’s sacrifice.
