  1. 1 There is no single source that provides cholera death counts for all countries from 1900-1910. This is partially in part because cholera reporting before 1920 was quite inconsistent, with different countries using different systems. Some countries kept meticulous records (e.g., British India or Colonial India), whereas others kept almost none. As the World Health Organization wasn’t founded until 1948, global disease records didn’t exist for that time period. Most of the data used to create this table data comes from mutliple specialized studies reconstructing the data from mutliple archieves, not a universal database.
